Observe the creatures

One early morning of the other week, I was amazed to see for the first time multitudes of large black termites in a long processional activity. It is not common to witness such creatures coming out in the open in so great a number in a residential area.

At first, I thought they were large black ants but my father told me that they were actually large black termites. I got curious of the creatures, so I did a little research on the Internet. The following are some information I found:

Southeast Asian Black Termites

The southeast Asian Longipeditermes longipes (Nasutitermitinae) is a large black termite. Unlike most termites that are harmful to house structures, this species do not feed on wood fiber, or cellulose. They grow small mushrooms in fungus gardens for their food. They collect mostly dead grass, twigs, and other plant debris. The plant materials they gathered are hauled below ground into their nest. Workers chew up the material, eat it, and then deposit their droppings as fertilizer on masses of spongelike fungus. The spores, or reproductive bodies that sprout on the outer surface of the fungus, are then fed to the younger termites in the colony. Older termites eat the remains of old fungus.

They are found in flat lowlands and are seen less often in hilly areas. They are especially common in coastal forests, but they also live on coconut and rubber plantations. These termites forage above ground during the day in highly organised columns of workers protected by numerous soldiers.

Influenced strongly by climatic conditions and other threats or disturbances to their colony, they migrate to a higher or safer location in a long processional activity carrying along with them provision for their exodus.

Observe the creatures. Unusual occurrences always tell of something. Isn't man the highest among the physical creatures? Are there mass movements of creatures occurring in some places that are observable lately? California may be one place that has mass movements happening lately and it is historic for America. Huge fires and strong wind disturbed a colony of Californians. While fire may symbolize judgment, it always symbolizes purification from dead works. Wind always symbolizes the Holy Spirit.

But it is quite interesting that this species of large black termites are mostly found specifically in Southeast Asia. Could there be something significant that will also soon be coming up in this paricular region of the world? Only the Lord knows, unless He reveals it beforehand. Let us pray therefore.
